I’ve always been a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest (oh my… haha) and after a little time-out Austria will be participating again this year. Nadine Beiler is the name of out represent and she is compeding with a powerful ballad called “The Secret Is Love”. I really like the song, I think she has an amazing voice and the writer of the song Thomas Rabitsch is also no stranger in the Austrian music scene. So I got me the CD single a couple of weeks ago and besides the studio version there is also a karaoke version on it. Unfortunatey I was not able to get out an acapella of it so I focused on something different to do with the track. I speeded it up way over the top (thanx to Jimmy Klok btw) and produced some hip hop beats to be layered underneath. First I wanted to have new vocals from various Austrian rappers for the verses but due to lack of time I wasn’t able to get this idea done. So a couple of days ago I still had the “hip hop refix” of “The Secret Is Love” lying around and only a couple of days away to the actual contest I decided to try out a couple of vocals that would fit as verse parts. I found out that Lena’s winning title of 2010 used similar chords and tried to combine these tracks. Lena is a bit slower now but since the overall theme on both songs is “Love” I think the combo works really fine. Download it HERE. And don’t forget to vote for Nadine this year!
